Expert Spotlight: Mackenzie Eason
Today's Monday Mindset is all about one of our expert relationship coaches, Mackenzie Eason. Mackenzie is the definition of a woman who lives and breathes confidently. She is on a mission to help other women break free from toxic dynamics, reclaim their power, and cultivate unshakable self love.
We caught up with Mackenzie who gave us some expert tips on how others can build their confidence.
What does confidence mean to you?
To me, confidence means embracing yourself and your own heart so fully that you can meet any interaction or experience (even a painful or awkward one) without rejecting yourself. To me it's way beyond fronting a sense of high self esteem. True confidence goes way deeper. It means having such a connected relationship to yourself that you can meet any situation with security and love within yourself (even if you fall on your face).
Has your confidence grown over time?
Most definitely. There are still waves where I feel doubtful or less confident, but my confidence is now a foundational thing that keeps glowing and growing.
What tips/advice would you give to others to improve their confidence?
First and foremost, be gentle with yourself. From there, be sure to remove yourself from any relationships that tear you down, are overly critical, or toxic. Keep doing things that make your heart sing and flood love to your own heart. Take time to get curious about and process any feelings of unworthiness or self doubt when they come up. Take time to acknowledge the amazing things you do and inherently are.
What is one mantra or inspirational quote you live by?
This poem by Mary Oliver always sets me straight:
"You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things."
